- Retroceda despacio.

- Release the brake, then quickly press the clutch
- Shift to neutral and release the brake
- Partly engage the clutch before taking your right foot off the brake
- Turn on the flashers and roll back slowly
Ver respuesta
Partly engage the clutch before taking your right foot off the brakePartly engaging the clutch first lets the engine hold the vehicle before the brake is released.
- When should you release the parking brake when starting on a hill?
- When you have applied enough engine power to keep from rolling back
- Before you start the engine
- As soon as you shift into first gear
- After the vehicle has rolled back a little
Ver respuesta
When you have applied enough engine power to keep from rolling backRelease the parking brake only when engine power is enough to keep the vehicle from rolling back.
- On a tractor-trailer, what else can be used to keep from rolling back when starting?
- The engine retarder
- The four-way flashers
- The interaxle differential lock
- The trailer brake hand valve
Ver respuesta
The trailer brake hand valveIf the tractor-trailer has a trailer brake hand valve, it can be applied to keep from rolling back.
- Your drive wheels begin to spin on a snowy road while you accelerate. What should you do?
- Press the accelerator harder
- Take your foot off the accelerator
- Apply the brakes firmly
- Shift to a higher gear quickly
Ver respuesta
Take your foot off the acceleratorSpinning wheels mean too much power for the traction; let off the accelerator.
- How should you hold the steering wheel? ¿Cómo debe sujetar el volante?
- With one hand at the top
- With both hands close together at the bottom
- Firmly, with both hands on opposite sides
- Loosely, so the wheel can correct itself
Ver respuesta
Firmly, with both hands on opposite sidesBoth hands on opposite sides with a firm grip keep the wheel from being pulled away if you hit a curb or pothole.
- When stopping a vehicle with a manual transmission, when should you push in the clutch?
- When the engine is close to idle
- As soon as you start braking
- Only after the vehicle has fully stopped
- Never; let the engine stall
Ver respuesta
When the engine is close to idlePush the clutch in when the engine nears idle so it does not stall.
- The right way to apply the brake pedal for a normal stop is: La forma correcta de pisar el freno para una parada normal es:
- Pump it hard several times
- Push it down gradually and control the pressure
- Press it fully all at once
- Use only the parking brake
Ver respuesta
Push it down gradually and control the pressurePush the pedal down gradually, controlling pressure for a smooth, safe stop.
- Why should you back toward the driver's side when possible?
- It uses less fuel
- It is required by federal law
- Your helper can stand on the right
- You can see better by watching the rear out the side window
Ver respuesta
You can see better by watching the rear out the side windowDriver-side backing lets you watch the rear of the vehicle through your side window.
- Which gear should you use when backing? ¿Qué marcha debe usar al retroceder?
- The lowest reverse gear
- The highest reverse gear
- Neutral, letting the vehicle coast
- Any gear that keeps the engine quiet
Ver respuesta
The lowest reverse gearThe lowest reverse gear lets you back slowly, fix steering errors and stop quickly.
- What is the most important hand signal for you and your backing helper to agree on?
- Turn left
- Go faster
- Stop
- Turn right
Ver respuesta
StopThe “stop” signal is the most important, because it prevents a crash.
- Where should your backing helper stand? ¿Dónde debe pararse su ayudante al retroceder?
- In the cab next to you
- Near the rear of the vehicle where you can see them
- Directly behind the vehicle in its path
- Across the street
Ver respuesta
Near the rear of the vehicle where you can see themThe helper should be near the back of the vehicle and visible to you.
- Why is it important to use a helper when backing?
